Our free and fast tool will convert most 3D mesh or 3MF (3D Manufacturing Format) model files to a standard X (Direct X File) file that can then be edited further in most popular 3D editing packages such as Blender or 3D printed without any further processing.
To convert your 3MF file click the Upload button above and select the file to convert. Once selected, the file will be converted to a X file and will ready for download shortly afterwards. For more information about the 3MF to X conversion process see the conversion information section below for more information.
Here are 2 simple steps to convert your 3MF to X.
First click the "Upload..." button, select your 3MF file to upload. Select any configuration options. When the 3MF to X conversion has completed, you can download your X file straight away.
We aim to process all 3MF to X conversions as quickly as possible, this usually takes around 5 seconds but can be more for larger more complex files so please be patient.
We aim to create the most accurate conversions with our tools. Our tools are under constant development with new features being added every week.
Yes, of course! We do not store the 3MF file you submit to us. The resulting X file, once created is deleted 1 hour after upload and the download link will expire after this time.
Yes! Our 3MF to X tool will run on any system with a modern web browser. No specialist software is needed to run any of our conversion tools.

3MF files are a modern 3D file format designed specifically for use with 3D printable models (additive manufacturing). It was designed to be the successor to the popular legacy STL format (also a common format in 3D printing) to overcome the limitations of that format.
The format of 3MF files is XML based that are compressed with the standard Zip file compression resulting in small, easily transferable files. The format supports 3D meshes along with associated materials and textures all contained within the Zip file.
The X 3D file format extension was introduced by Microsoft with the launch of Version 2 of their 3D graphics API Direct X back in 2002. The format has evolved over the years however in 2014 the X file format was deprecated in favour of newer more capable formats such as FBX.
The format is a simple text based file capable of storing 3D mesh information such as vertices, faces, normals and material information. In addition to basic 3D information the format can also store animations with the X file format primarily used in the development of games.
If your 3MF file contains textures, these will be ignored. If a material contains color information this will be translated where possible.
X files support material and color information. If your uploaded model contains color information our tool will attempt to save this in the X file at the end of the conversion process. Texture information is not supported at this time.
