Our free and fast tool will convert most 3D mesh or WRL (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) model files to a standard X (Direct X File) file that can then be edited further in most popular 3D editing packages such as Blender or 3D printed without any further processing.
To convert your WRL file click the Upload button above and select the file to convert. Once selected, the file will be converted to a X file and will ready for download shortly afterwards. For more information about the WRL to X conversion process see the conversion information section below for more information.
Here are 2 simple steps to convert your WRL to X.
First click the "Upload..." button, select your WRL file to upload. Select any configuration options. When the WRL to X conversion has completed, you can download your X file straight away.
We aim to process all WRL to X conversions as quickly as possible, this usually takes around 5 seconds but can be more for larger more complex files so please be patient.
We aim to create the most accurate conversions with our tools. Our tools are under constant development with new features and improvements being added every week.
Yes, of course! We do not store the WRL file you submit to us. The resulting X file, once created is deleted 1 hour after upload and the download link will expire after this time.
Yes! Our WRL to X tool will run on any system with a modern web browser. No specialist software is needed to run any of our conversion tools.
Yes. Although you can use an Ad Blocker, if you like our WRL conversion tool please consider white-listing our site. When an Ad Blocker is enabled there are some conversion limits on some of our tools and processing/conversion times will be longer.
|Full Name||Virtual Reality Modeling Language|

The WRL file format is a 3D based model format originally created in the 1990's which was aimed at website usage. The format is text based and contains 3D geometry data such as vertices, faces, simple shapes and material information and more.
This format when launched was hoped to become a standard 3D format, however due to the large file sizes it didn't see wide spread adoption although it is a supported format within some CAD software applications. It was later superseded by the X3D file format which shares most of the functionality of WRL files.
If your WRL file contains textures, these will be ignored. If a material contains color information this will be translated where possible.
|Full Name||Direct X File|
The X 3D file format extension was introduced by Microsoft with the launch of Version 2 of their 3D graphics API Direct X back in 2002. The format has evolved over the years however in 2014 the X file format was deprecated in favour of newer more capable formats such as FBX.
The format is a simple text based file capable of storing 3D mesh information such as vertices, faces, normals and material information. In addition to basic 3D information the format can also store animations with the X file format primarily used in the development of games.
X files support material and color information. If your uploaded model contains color information our tool will attempt to save this in the X file at the end of the conversion process. Texture information is not supported at this time.
