Here we detail how to convert your SLDPRT file to an X file using the export options found within the SolidWorks application. Currently, our converters cannot convert directly from SLDPRT to X. However,  using the built-in export functions of SolidWorks, we can achieve the conversion.

Firstly, you will need to load your SLDPRT file into SolidWorks and select the export to STEP option. Once you have your file in the STEP format, you can use our STEP to X converter to complete the conversion process.

Description

The SLDPRT format is the native file format for the SolidWorks CAD application. The development of SolidWorks began in the mid-1990s by Jon Hirschtick and continues to this day.

The file format itself is a proprietary binary format representing the CAD design and all its associated components, which can be exported to many different formats, such as STL and STEP. Applications that can open SLDPRT files are currently limited to the SolidWorks application.

Description

The X 3D file format extension was introduced by Microsoft with the launch of Version 2 of their 3D graphics API, Direct X, back in 2002. The format has evolved over the years; however, in 2014, the X file format was deprecated in favor of newer, more capable formats such as FBX.

The format is a simple text-based file capable of storing 3D mesh information such as vertices, faces, normals, and material information. In addition to basic 3D information, the format can also store animations with the X file format, which is primarily used in the development of games.

X Notes

X files support material and color information. If your uploaded model contains color information, our tool will attempt to save this in the X file at the end of the conversion process. Texture information is not supported at this time.
