Animated GIF and MP4 Frame Extractor Tool
Date: May 26, 2025
We have been busy adding a new, useful tool that can be used to extract the individual animation frames from files such as GIF, WEBP, APNG and of course, MP4. With our new frame extractor tools, you can upload one of the mentioned files and quickly view the individual frames of animation with the option to download a particular image frame or to download all the image frames in a single download.
As usual, our frame extractor tool is free to use and can handle files up to 100 MB in size, meaning you can upload those large animated GIF files and receive your image frames quickly.
Supported File Formats
We support common animation formats, such as GIF, APNG (or animated PNG), WEBP, and MP4. With GIF, PNG, and WEBP, all animation frames will be extracted and will be available to download. With MP4 files, the number of frames generated per second will vary and will depend upon the size of the MP4 file.
How to Use
The process of extracting the image frames from your animated file is simple: Either drag and drop your file onto the tool or click the upload button, browse to your animation file, and select to begin uploading. Once uploaded, the image frames will be extracted and presented to you in an ordered list, allowing you to download the frames you need, or you can download all the frames in a ZIP or 7Z file.

It is also possible to specify the format that you would like the individual animation frames to be saved as. There are sensible default options of PNG for animated GIF and PNG files. WEBP is the default for animated WEBP files, and JPG is the default format for MP4 files. The target format is, however, changeable, with you being able to specify a particular format from a wide range of supported formats.
