Our tool lets you upload a DCM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM)) file and, from this, create a new image saved in the GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) format that you can then download and edit within image file editors or use for high-definition printing applications. Our conversion tool can also batch convert multiple DCM image files; up to 25 files at a time can be converted.
Along with converting DCM image files to GIF, our tool allows you to also adjust the image with some simple effects, such as applying a grayscale filter to the image. These additional options are available within the Options tab. Along with grayscale, you can also mirror or flip the image if needed. For single DCM file uploads, you will also see options to resize and rotate your image.
This option can be used to rotate the image in 90° increments.
When selected, this option will flip the image vertically.
When selected, this option will mirror the image horizontally.
When checked, this will apply a grayscale filter to the image, turning any color image into a grayscale image.
When checked, this will apply a negative filter to the image, inverting all the colors within the image.

A DCM file is an image file format developed over a long period of time for the storage of medical-related images. The format was first released in the 1980s and has been adapted and improved since to cater for ever-evolving healthcare requirements.
The format is primarily used to store medical images such as CT scans, X-rays, MRIs, and more. A single DCM file may contain many individual images along with medical-related metadata such as patient information. The individual images may be stored as raw bitmap data or compressed JPEG data.

The format allows varying-size color palettes of up to 256 colors in total to be defined from a palette of 16 million colors.
