Create 3D animations with our easy to use and free tool. Our tool lets you upload a PLY (Stanford Triangle Format) 3D model file and from this, create an animated MP4 (MPEG-4) file that you can then download and share without the need for any complex 3D modelling software.
Here are 3 simple steps to create an MP4 file from a PLY file.
Our tool supports converting from all PLY formats including Text and Binary (both little endian and big endian).
First click the "Upload..." button, select your PLY file to upload. Select any configuration options. When the PLY to MP4 conversion has completed, you can download your MP4 file straight away.
We aim to process all PLY to MP4 conversions as quickly as possible, this usually takes around 5 seconds but can be more for larger more complex files so please be patient.
We aim to create the most accurate conversions with our tools. Our tools are under constant development with new features being added every week.
Yes, of course! We do not store the PLY file you submit to us. The resulting MP4 file, once created is deleted 1 hour after upload and the download link will expire after this time.
Yes! Our PLY to MP4 tool will run on any system with a modern web browser. No specialist software is needed to run any of our conversion tools.

The PLY format is a 3D model format originally developed and released in 1994 with its primary use being to store three-dimensional data from 3D digital scanners. The format known as the Polygon File Format and also the Stanford Triangle Format can be either a binary or text based format.
The file format stores 3D geometric information such as vertices, faces, vertex normals, color and other custom data. The format is still in use with many PLY models available to download and PLY files can be loaded into most popular 3D applications such as Blender.
The MP4 video format is a standard format for video encoding and storage. In order to minimize the file sizes the format employs a lossy compression method which reduces the amount of data to store the video content without any noticeable loss in quality.
Due to their small size and efficient compression methods the MP4 format is ideally suited to online video streaming. The MP4 format may use a variety of CODECs which are usually supported by most MP4 players with additional CODECs downloadable if needed.
If your PLY file contains vertex colors these will be imported and mapped where possible.
