Create 3D animations with our easy to use and free tool. Our tool lets you upload a STP (STEP-File) 3D model file and from this, create an animated GIF (Animated) (Graphics Interchange Format) file that you can then download and share without the need for any complex 3D modelling software.
Here are 3 simple steps to create an GIF (Animated) file from a STP file.
First click the "Upload..." button, select your STP file to upload. Select any configuration options. When the STP to GIF conversion has completed, you can download your GIF file straight away.
We aim to process all STP to GIF conversions as quickly as possible, this usually takes around 5 seconds but can be more for larger more complex files so please be patient.
We aim to create the most accurate conversions with our tools. Our tools are under constant development with new features being added every week.
Yes, of course! We do not store the STP file you submit to us. The resulting GIF file, once created is deleted 1 hour after upload and the download link will expire after this time.
Yes! Our STP to GIF tool will run on any system with a modern web browser. No specialist software is needed to run any of our conversion tools.

The STP file format is a 3D format defined in 1994 and used to store 3D objects for use in Computer-aided design (CAD) applications. STP files are text-based formatted files containing one instance per line.
Although STP files are widely supported by most CAD applications the format does have its limitations, such as the necessity to read the complete file into memory in order to parse the contents and due to the text storage of information the files can be quite large.
GIF files have been around since the mid-to-late 1980's and were introduced by CompuServe as a way to compress color images into small file sizes suitable for downloading which at the time most download speeds were limited. The format allows varying size color palettes upto 256-colors in total to be defined from a palette of 16 million colors.
Later on the ability to add animations to the GIF file format was added. GIF files became a popular image file format for the early internet due to the small size, large color palette and animation capabilities and is still popular today.
STP files when imported will be converted to 3D geometry comprising vertices and faces. If the STP file contains color information this will be converted where possible.
