CR2 (Canon RAW Version 2)

The CR2 file format is a custom image file format created by Cannon for use with their digital cameras. It has been in use since 2005 and was retired in 2018 when they introduced their CR3 version.

CR2 files store raw image data in a customized binary format and, like other camera image formats, are based on the TIF file format, meaning special imaging software is needed to open and edit these files.
