The format is the native format of the ImageToSTL 3D Model Designer application and was devised as a means to allow users with basic knowledge of 2D bitmap drawing and editing software to create complex 3D objects suitable for 3D printing.
An ITSP file consists of a main data file containing the position, rotation, and scale of a 2D object that is to be projected into 3D space. The objects are arranged into layers, with each layer being assigned a depth, allowing 3D objects to be created. Along with the data file are PNG image files of each element, and all these files are packed into a ZIP container with the ITSP file extension.
