The DNG file format is an open-source image file format created by Adobe for use with digital cameras. It has been in use since 2004 and is still around today with the aim to create a standard format for digital camera images.

DNG files store raw image data in a customized format based on the TIF file format. It is not directly viewable in most TIF editing apps, so special imaging software is needed to open and edit these files.
