Convert image files with our easy-to-use and free tool. Our tool lets you upload a PDF (Portable Document Format) file and, from this, create a new image saved in the AI (Adobe Illustrator) format that you can then download and edit within image file editors or use for high-definition printing applications. Our conversion tool can also batch convert multiple PDF image files; up to 25 files at a time can be converted.
Along with converting PDF image files to AI, our tool allows you to also adjust the image with some simple effects, such as applying a grayscale filter to the image. These additional options are available within the Options tab. Along with grayscale, you can also mirror or flip the image if needed. For single PDF file uploads, you will also see options to resize and rotate your image.
First click the "Upload..." button, select your PDF file to upload. Select any configuration options. When the PDF to AI conversion has completed, you can download your AI file straight away.
We aim to process all PDF to AI conversions as quickly as possible, this usually takes around 5 seconds but can be more for larger more complex files so please be patient.

Yes, of course! We do not store the PDF file you submit to us. The resulting AI file, once created is deleted 15 minutes after upload and the download link will expire after this time.

The AI file format, or Adobe Illustrator Artwork, to give it its full name, has been around since 1987. Developed by Adobe, the AI file is a vector-based image format initially created to encompass the EPS and PDF formats.
The format has continued to be improved since its initial release and is widely supported today by many well-known vector-based graphics programs, such as CorelDRAW and Paint Shop Pro.
