Description

The Data Uri TXT file format is a method of embedding external webpage resouces such as images directly into the HTML markup. The benefit of embedding external resouces reduces HTTP requests for a webpage thus reducing the overall load time.

Data is encoded using the Base64 method of encoding binary data as text using ASCII characters. Due to the encoding method the resulting file size will be around 33% larger than the binary equivalent so there is a trade-off between the number HTTP requests and the increase in request size.
