STPZ

STPZ-formatet (også kjent som en komprimert STEP-fil) er et 3D-filformat som brukes i CAD (Computer Aided Design) sirkler og brukes til å lagre kompleks 3D-modellering data i et standardformat som enkelt kan utveksles mellom CAD- og 3D-modelleringsapplikasjoner.

Formatet er en svært komprimert versjon av STEP-formatet, som først dukket opp på 1990-tallet med sikte på å standardisere ikke bare 3D-innhold, men også tilleggsdata som er spesifikke for industriell bruk, som toleranser og materialer. Standarden for STP-filer, kjent som ISO-10303-21-standarden, har blitt revidert i løpet av årene for å muliggjøre tilleggsfunksjoner.

De ukomprimerte 3D-dataene i STPZ-filen er representert i tekstform ved å bruke en kombinasjon av former som består av flater, kanter og andre geometriske data. Som nevnt ble STPZ-formatet designet for å være en standard for 3D-modellutveksling, noe som betyr at det har bred støtte blant CAD- og 3D-modelleringsapplikasjoner samt filkonverteringsprogramvare.
