Our tool lets you upload a AI (Adobe Illustrator) file and, from this, create a new image saved in the BMP (Bitmap Image File) format that you can then download and edit within image file editors or use for high-definition printing applications. Our conversion tool can also batch convert multiple AI image files; up to 25 files at a time can be converted.
Along with converting AI image files to BMP, our tool allows you to also adjust the image with some simple effects, such as applying a grayscale filter to the image. These additional options are available within the Options tab. Along with grayscale, you can also mirror or flip the image if needed. For single AI file uploads, you will also see options to resize and rotate your image.
This option can be used to rotate the image in 90° increments.
When selected, this option will flip the image vertically.
When selected, this option will mirror the image horizontally.
When checked, this will apply a grayscale filter to the image, turning any color image into a grayscale image.
When checked, this will apply a negative filter to the image, inverting all the colors within the image.
First click the "Upload..." button, select your AI file to upload. Select any configuration options. When the AI to BMP conversion has completed, you can download your BMP file straight away.
We aim to process all AI to BMP conversions as quickly as possible, this usually takes around 5 seconds but can be more for larger more complex files so please be patient.

Yes, of course! We do not store the AI file you submit to us. The resulting BMP file, once created is deleted 15 minutes after upload and the download link will expire after this time.

Yes. When you have converted your AI to BMP, there is a "Feedback" option that you can use to let us know of any issues you encountered when converting your file.
Yes! Our AI tool supports full batch conversions. You can upload up to 25 and AI files at a time. Our tool will convert them all as quickly as possible. Once completed, you can either download the BMP files individually or download them all in a single ZIP file.

The AI file format, or Adobe Illustrator Artwork, to give it its full name, has been around since 1987. Developed by Adobe, the AI file is a vector-based image format initially created to encompass the EPS and PDF formats.
The format has continued to be improved since its initial release and is widely supported today by many well-known vector-based graphics programs, such as CorelDRAW and Paint Shop Pro.

The BMP file format is a two-dimensional image file format popular on Microsoft Windows operating systems. Data is stored in the BMP file in a raster format, with pixels being represented using various color depths ranging from monochrome 1-bit per pixel (bpp) to full color 24-bits per pixel.
The format can also contain an image alpha channel, which is typically 8 bits per pixel in size and is used to describe image transparency. BMP files can also optionally be compressed using a lossless compression algorithm, meaning smaller files with no loss of image quality.
