Convert your DXF file to BMP

Convert image files with our easy-to-use and free tool. Our tool lets you upload a DXF (Drawing Exchange Format) file and, from this, create a new image saved in the BMP (Bitmap Image File) format that you can then download and edit within image file editors or use for high-definition printing applications. Our conversion tool can also batch convert multiple DXF image files; up to 25 files at a time can be converted.

Along with converting DXF image files to BMP, our tool allows you to also adjust the image with some simple effects, such as applying a grayscale filter to the image. These additional options are available within the Options tab. Along with grayscale, you can also mirror or flip the image if needed. For single DXF file uploads, you will also see options to resize and rotate your image.

Description

The DXF file format was first introduced in 1982 as part of Autodesk's AutoCAD software. DXF files were intended at the time to allow data interchange between AutoCAD and other CAD-related applications. The format has evolved over the years, with the most recent version coming in 2007.

DXF files can contain either text or binary content describing blocks, entities, objects, and other information using a "tagging" system. The DXF format is still popular today and can be opened with most popular CAD applications.

DXF Notes

When imported, DXF files will be converted to 3D geometry comprising vertices and faces using the Extrude method. The extrusion value can be set before the conversion starts. If the DXF file contains color information, this will be included where possible.

Description

The BMP file format is a two-dimensional image file format popular on Microsoft Windows operating systems. Data is stored in the BMP file in a raster format, with pixels being represented using various color depths ranging from monochrome 1-bit per pixel (bpp) to full color 24-bits per pixel.

The format can also contain an image alpha channel, which is typically 8 bits per pixel in size and is used to describe image transparency. BMP files can also optionally be compressed using a lossless compression algorithm, meaning smaller files with no loss of image quality.
