Our free and fast tool will convert most 3D mesh or SCAD (OpenSCAD) model files to a standard WRL (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) file that can then be edited further in most popular 3D editing packages such as Blender or 3D printed without any further processing.
To convert your SCAD file click the Upload button above and select the file to convert. Once selected, the file will be converted to a WRL file and will ready for download shortly afterwards. For more information about the SCAD to WRL conversion process see the conversion information section below for more information.
Here are 2 simple steps to convert your SCAD to WRL.
First click the "Upload..." button, select your SCAD file to upload. Select any configuration options. When the SCAD to WRL conversion has completed, you can download your WRL file straight away.
We aim to process all SCAD to WRL conversions as quickly as possible, this usually takes around 5 seconds but can be more for larger more complex files so please be patient.
We aim to create the most accurate conversions with our tools. Our tools are under constant development with new features being added every week.
Yes, of course! We do not store the SCAD file you submit to us. The resulting WRL file, once created is deleted 1 hour after upload and the download link will expire after this time.
Yes! Our SCAD to WRL tool will run on any system with a modern web browser. No specialist software is needed to run any of our conversion tools.

The OpenSCAD file format or SCAD is the native file format of the popular free CAD software OpenSCAD used for creating 3D CAD models. The SCAD software is still in active development with new features being added with each version.
SCAD files are text based files containing script which allows the designer to describe the CAD model programmatically. SCAD files are then compiled to produce the final 3D render.
The WRL file format is a 3D based model format originally created in the 1990's which was aimed at website usage. The format is text based and contains 3D geometry data such as vertices, faces, simple shapes and material information and more.
This format when launched was hoped to become a standard 3D format, however due to the large file sizes it didn't see wide spread adoption although it is a supported format within some CAD software applications. It was later superseded by the X3D file format which shares most of the functionality of WRL files.
SCAD files when imported will be converted to 3D geometry comprising vertices and faces. If the SCAD file contains color information this will be converted where possible.
WRL files support material and color information. If your uploaded model contains color information our tool will attempt to save this in the WRL file at the end of the conversion process. Texture information is not supported at this time.
